# RemoteDevWork

> A developer job board that tells you which listings are actually alive, actually remote, and worth your time.

RemoteDevWork reads the public job feeds that companies publish through their applicant-tracking systems, records when each role was first seen, and grades every listing for freshness, real remote scope, technology, role and competitiveness. Content is server-rendered and free to read.

Current live data: 6,485 developer roles across 92 companies; 71% are remote, and 187 are remote from anywhere. Updated daily.

## Guides (markdown)

- [How to tell if a remote job is actually remote](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/how-to-tell-if-a-remote-job-is-actually-remote.md): “Remote” often hides a country, a timezone, or a quiet return to the office. Here is how to read a listing before you spend an hour applying.
- [What are you worth? Researching developer salaries](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/what-are-you-worth-researching-developer-salaries.md): Salary is not a number you guess, it is a number you research. A practical method for working out your range before anyone asks.
- [Track every application (and stop losing opportunities)](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/track-every-application-and-stop-losing-opportunities.md): Job searches fail quietly, a follow-up forgotten, a role applied to twice, a recruiter left hanging. A simple tracker fixes most of it.
- [Remote-first vs remote-friendly vs hybrid: what each really means](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/remote-first-vs-remote-friendly-vs-hybrid.md): Three phrases, three very different jobs. Learn to translate the language companies use, before you interview.
- [How to answer "what are your salary expectations?"](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/how-to-answer-salary-expectations.md): The question everyone dreads, handled gracefully, without naming a number you will regret.
- [Where remote developer jobs are actually posted](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/where-remote-developer-jobs-are-actually-posted.md): Most listings you see on aggregators start somewhere specific. Go to the source and you apply earlier, to fresher roles.
- [How to read a job listing like a recruiter](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/how-to-read-a-job-listing-like-a-recruiter.md): A job ad is a wish list, not a checklist. Knowing which requirements are real tells you where to spend your time.
- [Remote across borders: timezones, contracts, and right to work](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/remote-across-borders-timezones-contracts-right-to-work.md): Working for a company in another country is mostly logistics. Get them right and it is smooth; ignore them and it gets complicated.
- [The 10 red flags of a fake or ghost developer job](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/red-flags-of-a-fake-or-ghost-developer-job.md): Some listings are not real hires. Learn the signals so you spend your energy on roles that exist.
- [Remote pay bands: why the same role pays differently by location](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/remote-pay-bands-why-location-changes-pay.md): Two identical roles, one remote, two very different numbers. Here is why, and how to work with it.
- [Negotiating your first offer without losing it](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/negotiating-your-first-developer-offer.md): Negotiation is not a fight. It is a short, warm conversation you prepare for once and reuse forever.
- [Equity, bonuses, and total compensation for developers, explained](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/equity-bonuses-and-total-compensation-explained.md): Base salary is the visible number. The real offer is everything else, and it can be worth more than the difference you are haggling over.
- [A CV for remote developer roles (what to cut)](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/developer-cv-for-remote-roles.md): Remote teams read CVs fast and look for evidence you can work without being managed. Cut the noise and prove it.
- [How ATS systems read your CV (and what breaks them)](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/how-ats-systems-read-your-cv.md): What actually happens after you hit apply: how parsers turn your file into searchable text, the formatting that scrambles it, and how to check yours in seconds.
- [How to write a developer CV that actually gets read](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/how-to-write-a-developer-cv.md): Structure, writing and a copy-paste Markdown template you can build from, plus how to turn it into a clean, ATS-safe PDF.
- [Writing a cover letter you can reuse 50 times](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/reusable-cover-letter-for-developers.md): A cover letter is not a formality. It is your chance to answer the only question the recruiter is asking.
- [Preparing for a remote technical interview](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/preparing-for-a-remote-technical-interview.md): Remote interviews test a different skill: clear thinking out loud, over a laggy connection. Prepare for that, not just the code.
- [Beating the take-home without burning your weekend](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/beating-the-take-home-without-burning-your-weekend.md): A good take-home is a small, realistic task with a clear brief. Here is how to stand out without sacrificing your Saturday.
- [Portfolios and GitHub for senior roles](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/portfolios-and-github-for-senior-roles.md): A senior portfolio is not more projects, it is proof of judgement. Show the decisions, not the repository count.
- [How to follow up without being annoying](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/how-to-follow-up-without-being-annoying.md): Following up is a skill. Timed well, it moves you forward; timed badly, it closes doors. Here is the rhythm.
- [Handling rejection and silence like a professional](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/handling-rejection-and-silence.md): Most applications get no reply, and a rejection stings even when you expect it. Both are data, not verdicts on you.
- [Job searching while employed (quietly)](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/job-searching-while-employed.md): The best time to look is when you do not have to. Do it discreetly, and do not burn the bridge you are standing on.
- [Avoiding job-search burnout during a long search](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/avoiding-job-search-burnout.md): A job search is a job with no manager, no praise, and unpredictable feedback. Treat it like one, and protect yourself.
- [How to write a job ad developers actually apply to](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/how-to-write-a-job-ad-developers-apply-to.md): Developers self-select out of vague ads. Say what the job is, what it pays, and how remote it really is.
- [Why your "remote" role isn't getting applicants](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/why-your-remote-role-isnt-getting-applicants.md): If a remote role is under-performing, the problem is usually in the ad, not the market. Here are the usual culprits.
- [The real cost of a bad job listing](https://remotedevwork.com/guides/the-real-cost-of-a-bad-job-listing.md): A misleading listing is not free. It costs you candidates, time, and reputation with exactly the people you need.
