Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 October 2026
This policy explains how Dylan Auty, an individual based in South Africa operating the website RemoteDevWork (RemoteDevWork), handles your personal information. We aim to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa and, where it applies, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is responsible
The responsible party (data controller) is Dylan Auty, trading as RemoteDevWork. For any privacy question or request, contact .
What we collect
- Account details you give us: your name, email address and a hashed password.
- Job-search data you create: saved searches, tracked applications (including roles you applied to elsewhere), notes and to-dos.
- Usage data: which listings you open, and basic technical data such as IP address, browser and timestamps, used for security and to keep the site working.
- Newsletter: your email address, if you opt in.
- Employer data: if you buy a featured listing, the advert content and the payment reference returned by our payment provider.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
- To provide the service (accounts, saved searches, tracking) - performance of our agreement with you.
- To send you job alerts and occasional updates about other things we build - your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or in your profile.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse - our legitimate interest.
- To process employer payments - performance of the contract and legal record-keeping.
Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you logged in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. See our Cookies page for details. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site, and only as needed:
- our hosting provider, Hostinger (where the site and database live, in the European Union);
- our email provider (to deliver alerts and account emails);
- PayPal (to take payment for featured listings).
Job listings themselves are collected from companies' public job feeds; we do not publish your personal information to employers.
International transfers
This site is hosted by Hostinger, with servers in the European Union, so your personal information is stored and processed outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred across borders, we rely on our providers' data processing agreements and standard contractual clauses, as required by POPIA (section 72) and, where it applies, the GDPR.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information, except where we must keep records by law (for example, payment records). Saved-search and usage data are removed with your account.
Your rights
You can:
- access and download a copy of your data (use "Download my data" in your profile);
- correct your details in your profile;
- delete your account and data from your profile;
- object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent for emails at any time;
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (https://inforegulator.org.za).
Security
We use industry-standard measures (hashed passwords, encrypted connections, access controls) to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and limit what we store.
Children
The service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and if we learn we have, we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted on this page with a new date.
